We are happy to announce that World Youth International's new Maternal Health Centre has completed construction and is officially open. Situated adjacent to our Odede Community Health Centre in western Kenya, this new Centre is dedicated to providing maternal care for the women and children in Odede and surrounding areas. The team in Kenya, as well as here in Australia, are extremely excited to have this brand new clinic up and running and can already see the positive impact it is having on the community in providing them with affordable access to maternal health services.
The Maternal Health Centre, which is currently staffed by two full time trained nurses, will be used for prenatal and post-natal care to ensure women are progressing smoothly with their pregnancies and then receive support after they give birth as they embrace motherhood.
“The construction of the new Maternal Health Centre was made possible only by generous donations through World Youth International’s networks,” highlights Terry Hoey, General Manager of World Youth International.
“The support of our amazing donors and volunteers is much appreciated - we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.”
The opening of the Maternal Health Centre means that all maternal health related patients are redirected away from the main hospital building, and allows for a greater number of patients to be seen. Stay tuned for further updates!
