Millions of children throughout the world do not have access to basic rights including an education
We believe in the power of education to not only benefit and empower the life of the child, but also their community, and we need your help!
In 2020, it was reported that 67.91% of Nepali people aged 15 years and above are literate which is an increase of 8.28% from the previous decade. Although we are seeing gradual improvements, Nepal still has one of the lowest literacy rates in Asia. Our goal is to help improve this statistic and create a pathway to paid employment for as many WYI students as possible.
Provide an education for a child in Nepal
There are over 500 students attending the World Youth International School in Nepal and it is the centre piece of the Gokarna community. We have recently welcomed years 11 and 12 in the school and it can now accommodate up to 600 students. The school continues to exceed all expectations with an average grade pass rate of over 96.5% rating it in the top 2% of schools in Nepal. The majority of students attending the school are female and WYI is committed to providing annual scholarships to underprivileged children from the local community.
Displaced children in Nepal are also supported to live in WYI's Sapana Dreaming Centre for Humanity. This home provides shelter, education, healthcare and a loving, safe and happy environment for children from all over Nepal. These children receive their education through the WYI School.
You can choose to provide a child at the WYI School with a scholarship for education; or a scholarship for the education plus accommodation and care at the Sapana Dreaming Centre for Humanity where it is ensured that the child also has regular meals, clean water and access to adequate medical facilities and school supplies.
Please note that providing an education scholarship for a child is a minimum 12 month commitment.
