We are very excited to share that our boarding home being built on the World Youth International School in Nepal has officially been named the ‘Change A Life’ Boarding Home by Computershare!
Construction of the Boarding Home for the World Youth International School is now complete, and the internal fit out is well underway. Over the coming weeks the home will receive a fresh coat of paint and the final fittings will be installed. We are still generating funds to complete and fit out the Boarding Home, so that it is ready for 50 excited World Youth International School students. We are aiming to open the ‘Change A Life’ Boarding Home later this year.
Much of the funding and progress made on this building would not have been possible without our corporate sponsor Computershare and their dedicated employees worldwide. We thank them for their role in funding the construction of the boarding home, which will allow the students at the school to continue their education into Years 11 and 12. Computershare made a five-year commitment to support our school in Nepal through their Change A Life charitable giving program, and the completed construction of the boarding home is a testament to the significant inroads they have made in the development of the school. In addition, the pandemic has adversely affected the school, making the construction of the boarding home a welcome addition in these tough times. The funds for the boarding home were raised by Computershare employees through Trek Nepal, which is $500K over and above the committed amount through the partnership.
“The passion and generosity of Computershare employees continue to make a difference to the lives of students at the World Youth International School and their families. I am deeply impressed with Computershare’s fundraising efforts and support of our projects in Nepal,” shares Terry Hoey, World Youth International General Manager.
‘Change A Life’ Boarding Home will definitely have a positive impact on our School, as it will house up to 50 students, and the foundations of the building have been built to earthquake standards, making it one of the sturdiest buildings in the region, and a safe house for students in the unlikely event of an earthquake.
The stable construction and large capacity of the Boarding Home will continue to make the World Youth International School a long-term sustainable development project. Students will be able to stay on campus and access a range of facilities including out of hours tuition, to ensure that they have the best possible chance of success.
Thank you Computershare!
