Macy and Josephine
Dear Friends and Family,
We are thrilled to share that we have been selected to participate in the Nurses in Action (NIA) program with World Youth International (WYI) in Nepal this October. This incredible opportunity allows us to make a meaningful impact during our 23-day journey, where we will engage in vital medical projects focused on primary, child, and maternal healthcare, as well as preventative health and family planning services.
Throughout our time in Nepal, we will be working in both public and private health facilities, providing free medical clinics to around 300 people each day. As Registered Nurses at Cloncurry Hospital in North West Queensland, our passion for improving rural and remote health will be amplified by this experience. Working in a resource limited setting will enhance our clinical skills and cultural competence, enabling us to better address unique health challenges. This opportunity will empower us to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need and strengthen our role as advocates for accessible healthcare in our communities.
We need your support to make this dream a reality!
To participate in this life changing journey, together we need to raise a total of $3,700, which will go directly towards supporting WYI’s global projects to help improve healthcare in Nepal. Any contribution, big or small, will be greatly appreciated. Your generosity will help us bring hope and healing to those who need it most.
Thank you for your kindness and support!
Macy and Josephine.
Nepal
Though most visitors come to Nepal to experience the majestic Himalayas, these people tend to see only the small areas that receive considerable economic benefits from tourism. One simply needs to step behind the backdrop of the beautiful mountain scenery and into the remote regions of Nepal to learn that much of the population lives in poverty. In spite of substantial external development assistance, Nepal remains one of the least developed countries in the world. High disease prevalence, low adult literacy rates, natural disasters, food security and availability problems and high rates of child malnutrition are just a few of the challenges the Nepali people face on a daily basis. This is where members of our volunteer programs can make a lasting impact.

Nurses in Action
The Nurses in Action (NIA) Program is a unique, powerful and immersive experience held over 3-4 weeks which allows nurses and allied health professionals of all ages to provide primary healthcare services to people living in remote communities.
The NIA Program runs in Kenya and Nepal with the objective of building local capacity in improving health services to rural communities (such as at the Odede Community Health Centre in Kenya), and offering healthcare to communities living in extreme poverty who would not be able to access it otherwise (such as earthquake-affected communities in Nepal).
NIA Volunteers work in local medical clinics and hospitals as well as on Community Outreach Programs and Medical Camps, alongside local staff and community members.
