Computershare commits to World Youth International School's New IT Training Centre to Help Students Bridge the Digital Divide 

Through their Change A Life foundation, Computershare is excited to announce that their employees have chosen to partner with World Youth International for a second time on a new project! A brand new IT Training Centre is being constructed and will be part of the World Youth International School complex in Nepal. This comes on the heels of the November 2022 opening of the Change A Life Boarding Centre at the School – a culmination of years of fundraising and hard work that began in 2017. The IT Training Centre will provide a tertiary equivalent 5-year degree for current students and also the wider local community through fee-paying courses, helping the School towards its goal of being sustainable. The building will also be equipped with multimedia equipment to enable live-streaming and external tech training opportunities from Computershare employees and other service providers. We are excited to work together on this new project, with the Centre on track to be completed by the end of 2025. The IT Training Centre will definitely have a positive impact on the School and wider community. From the Boardroom to the Himalayas | Computershare Employees Will Trek the Himalayas to support the World Youth International School 

World Youth International are proud to announce we are again partnering with Computershare’s Change A Life Foundation for Trek Nepal 2023! The Trek Nepal 2023 team consists of 26 Computershare employees from across the United States and Canada who will embark on a trip of a lifetime this November, strenuously hiking for 7 days through the Annapurna Mountain Ranges in the Himalayas. With an ambitious fundraising target of USD $100,000, they are dedicating extensive amounts of personal time fundraising and training for their trip. With Computershare covering all travel costs, 100% of the money raised will go towards the World Youth International School in Nepal. While the trekkers will of course be flying to Nepal, they hope to take not just one, but two buses to the World Youth International School. That is, they’ll be delivering new buses that will be purchased with the $100,000 they are helping to raise as part of their trip. Because the School currently only has two buses for 650 students, some students have to arrive at school nearly two hours ahead of the first class and must remain at the School well past the daily finishing time. Purchasing these buses will have a huge impact on all students and ensure they can all travel safely without missing precious time in the classrooms. The Trek Nepal group will complete the Trek with a welcome reception at the World Youth International School where they will be able to see first-hand the buses! They will also get to experience how their efforts are making a positive impact on the lives of the students within the School and wider community. The inaugural Trek Nepal occurred in 2018 when 33 Computershare employees from offices throughout Europe, the UK and South Africa completed the visually stunning journey. In 2019, 21 Computershare employees from across Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong followed in their footsteps to reach the destination. Both groups exceeded their initial fundraising targets, with accumulated funds enabling the School to expand, children to access resources, and the construction of the Change a Life Boarding Centre at the World Youth International School. While this partnership has already had so much impact to communities living below the poverty line, the next 4 years will see Computershare constructing an IT College on the School grounds. Due to open in 2025, the College will enrol up to 80 students each year and open up further career development opportunities. Nepal experiences many development challenges and a large proportion of the population live below the poverty line. While Nepal’s overall poverty rates have decreased over the past decade, two-thirds of its children are still deprived of at least one of seven basic human needs. With 40% of Nepal’s population under the age of 18, providing support to educate and empower Nepalese children is vital so they can develop the skills to successfully grow into self-sufficient adults.
