A group of Computershare employees are trekking through the Grampians this November to raise money for technology equipment for a new IT college in Nepal - and would greatly appreciate your support!
The 20 teammates from across Australia and New Zealand aim to raise more than AU$75,000 for the equipment for the Computershare IT College, which will be based at the World Youth International (WYI) School near Kathmandu.
Computershare is funding the construction of the IT college using donations to the company's community support program Change A Life, as part of its long-standing partnership with WYI.
The challenge
The Trek for Tech group are working to inspire donations by undertaking a difficult trekking trip in the Grampians region in Victoria, Australia, in mid-November. They will be doing 80km worth of hard hikes over five days, including tackling some of the state's most challenging trails such as Mount Difficult, Mackenzie Falls and Mount Rosea. They'll be doing one of their days of trekking with a weighted pack and completing strength exercises along the way. It's going to require some serious training!
More on the cause
The Computershare IT College will open in late 2025 and start educating aspiring IT professionals in April 2026. The college will help make the main WYI School self-sustaining, so it can continue providing a great education to hundreds of students aged up to Year 12. The group are trying to buy 80 computers and multimedia equipment that will be crucial to the IT college's success. This project will build on the work of Computershare's community support program Change A Life, which aims to help empower communities across the world facing economic challenges. More than 1,000 of Computershare's employees donate to Change A Life regularly through their pay, with every dollar from payroll donations matched by the company.
Thank you for your support
The Trek for Tech group would be grateful for any support you could provide for this valuable cause. Thanks for reading and please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.
